Effective Immediately – Temporary Restrictions

Updated October 1, 2020

As our communities continue to navigate the effects of COVID-19, RMHC Eastern WI is following specific guidelines to maintain a safe environment within the House. Under these guidelines, we are currently accepting referrals for in-patient and out-patient admissions that require at least a 3-night stay.  All referrals are done through social workers at partner hospitals.

Any families who are eligible to stay will also need to submit recent negative COVID results (COVID test within 5 days of check-in) and will agree to “shelter-in-place” while at the Ronald McDonald House.  This means families will be able to go back and forth between the House and the hospital but will not be able to return home and come back to the House or visit any local attractions or dine in at restaurants.

As the comfort and safety of our guest families is always of utmost importance, we have implemented protocols to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) or any other virus at the House. We continue to work closely with our hospital partners and city officials to ensure that appropriate measures are being taken as the situation continues to evolve.

Anyone entering the House will be asked to answer a health screening.  If any person has signs or symptoms of COVID or has had any recent exposure, they will not be permitted inside the House.

Other New Protocols:

  • Volunteers: We have slowly begun reintroducing a limited number of our current volunteers back to RMHC. We are grateful for their unwavering support.
  • Staff: Staff are doing daily self-monitoring health checks.  If any symptoms or exposure risk occurs, staff are staying home.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Outside visitors are not allowed at RMHC Eastern WI, including visitors to guest families, House tours and non-essential meetings.
  • Guest families: occupancy is limited to the patient receiving care and their immediate family support system (primary guardians and healthy siblings).
  • Services/programs: all meal groups, group projects and programming for guest families have been temporarily suspended.
  • Vendors: deliveries and maintenance will continue as usual with additional screening.

This is a constantly changing situation and we will continue to operate within our core values of compassionate care and communication to share updates as they become available.
