Job Title: Assistant Director of Facilities

Department: Facilities

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Status: Full-time, salaried (exempt)

Shifts: Occasional night/weekend & on-call support

Job Purpose:

Ronald McDonald House is seeking an Assistant Director of Facilities to join our team. This individual will play a key leadership role within the Facilities department, supporting the overall operation, maintenance, and strategic advancement of RMH facilities. This role partners closely with the Director of Facilities to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for guest families, staff, volunteers, and visitors, while also providing day-to-day oversight across facilities functions.

 

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Support

· Foster an environment of warmth, respect, and service for all RMH families, guests, volunteers, & staff

· Provide day-to-day operational leadership and support to Facilities team members, volunteers, contracted staff, & vendors

· Act as a primary point of contact in the Director’s absence, ensuring continuity of operations

· Lead internal volunteer support, and group volunteer management

· Promote cross-department collaboration with Operations and Development teams

· Respond to facility-related emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation

· Support staff development and training

Operations & Facilities Oversight

· Provide occasional night, weekend, and on-call support

· Coordinate and communicate with vendors, staff, and guest families to complete repairs and services

· Help oversee daily facility operations to ensure a clean, safe, and hospitable environment

· Assist in conducting and documenting routine facility inspections

· Support emergency procedures and preparedness efforts

· Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance

Maintenance & Asset Management

· Support preventative maintenance programs and repair schedules

· Assist in managing facility assets and inventory

· Provide hands-on support for basic maintenance needs

· Coordinate work orders and vendor response

Budget & Vendor Management

· Support development and tracking of the Facilities budget

· Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities

· Assist with vendor relationships and performance

· Participate in RFPs and contract reviews

Projects & Continuous Improvement

· Assist in planning and executing capital projects

· Identify operational efficiencies and areas for improvement

· Maintain standard operating procedures

Technology & Systems Support

· Assist with facility systems such as security and access control

· Support troubleshooting with IT and vendors

· Maintain working knowledge of systems used in the House

Community Interaction

· Promote awareness of RMH’s mission

· Support vendor stewardship and in-kind donations

· Participate in events and community engagement

Qualifications:

Candidates should have passion for the RMHC mission and demonstrate the following:

  • Enthusiastic, energetic, adaptable, and compassionate to guest families, RMHC colleagues, donors and volunteers.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Computer proficiency (familiarity with MS office & database software).
  • High School degree and two years college experience (or equivalent); work experience in a non-profit, social-service organization, customer service or other related employment.
  • Must exhibit a high level of responsibility with confidential information.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Some bending, kneeling and stairs may be required. Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
