Landscape and Grounds Coordinator 

Department: Operations 

Reports to: Director of House Operations 

Status: Seasonal Part-Time (10 hours each week during months of May through October) 

Our Mission: To keep families together and promote the health and well-being of children 

Job Purpose: 

The Landscape and Grounds Coordinator is a crucial member of the House Operations Team, responsible for overseeing all activities related to the 7.5 acres of grounds (including the ¾ acre Secret Garden) of Ronald McDonald House Charites ® of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc. (RMHC or House). The Coordinator supports the Director of House Operations and works in cooperation with RMHC staff and volunteers to promote and keep our grounds beautiful, safe and well-kept during the spring through late fall growing season. Coordinator will identify grounds needs and work closely with grounds service providers and vendors, encouraging donated or discounted service and always with a “mission first” focus. 

RMHC Grounds: 

• Support well-kept, safe and inviting RMHC grounds for guest families, volunteers, donors, staff and other visitors to enjoy as part of their RMHC experience 

• Coordinate seasonal grounds needs and work with vendors and service providers to maintain the grounds, including, but not limited to; landscapers, arborists, water feature professionals, sprinkler, and lighting companies 

• Maintain an annual calendar of grounds needs, being proactive in scheduling timely work to ensure the grounds are in excellent shape throughout the growing season 

• Report all grounds-related issues to Maintenance/ Director of House Operations via MaxPanda 

• Walk the grounds at least weekly to identify issues and proactively address any grounds’ needs 

• Support and enforce RMHC policies and procedures, as documented in RMHC Operations Manual, to ensure the safety of our guest families and visitors when on the grounds of RMHC 

• Identify larger grounds projects, working collaboratively with Operations Team to identify funders for projects and timelines to mitigate disturbance to guest families during project construction 

• Other duties as assigned by the Director of House Operations 

Secret Garden: 

• Establish a professional and collaborative relationship with the UW-Extension Master Gardener volunteers, understanding the Gardener’s responsibilities and goals in maintaining the Secret Garden’s Master Garden designation 

• Support Secret Garden Chair in identifying hardscape and softscape needs of the Secret Garden 

• Use the Secret Garden as a way to educate and inspire our guest families to understand the positive impact gardening has on their health and well-being; collaborate with Secret Garden Chair to support the Family Garden Education Program 


• Prior work experience and knowledge of organic gardening and Midwest landscaping, preferably with a landscape architect or horticulturalist designation 

• Passion for the RMHC Mission 

• Approachable and easy to talk to, warm, pleasant and gracious to guest families, RMHC colleagues and volunteers 

• Ability to interact professionally with families, staff, volunteers, vendors, donors and the community 

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task, using effective customer service skills to work independently 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus 

• Computer proficiency, including familiarity with all MS office products 

• Must exhibit a high level of responsibility, be dependable and timely 

• Flexibility in work schedule, allowing for additional hours, if needed.

Director of Marketing & Events

Department: Development

Reports to: President/CEO

Status: Full-time Salaried (Exempt)

Job Purpose:

The Director of Marketing and Events (Director) is a key leadership position at RMHC and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and/or supervising all aspects of marketing and events at RMHC including social media presence, website, RMHC collateral, major fundraising events, and Third Party events.

Director will have direct supervisory responsibility for marketing and event staff. The priorities of this full-time exempt position are to bring RMHC brand awareness to our community, encourage community participation with Third Party events, and maintain a high quality experience for event attendees.

Director is responsible for creating and executing visually compelling and creative strategic graphic, social media and web content for RMHC and lead in the development and creation of new marketing materials including, but not limited to; collateral, special event materials, and other print materials. Director will oversee and manage website content, other social media outlets and support the Board-appointed Development Committee

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Philanthropy to create marketing strategies, campaigns, and initiatives to promote RMHC as a charity of choice.
  • Develop the best creative solutions for graphics and marketing projects
    • Ensure that messages are supportive of and consistent with overall graphic and marketing strategies and RMHC Global best practices
    • Develop and manage the design and distribution of direct mail campaigns including special event invitations, two annual appeals, and all aspects of print production, collaborating with Director of Philanthropy to ensure that strategy is in alignment with overall fundraising strategy
    • Produce visually compelling designs, presentations, and collateral materials
    • Coordinate House collateral and print projects in a timely and professional manner
    • Review all RMHC collateral to ensure that they conform to House and RMHC Global standards
    • Responsible for proper documentation, storage, filing and back-up of files
  • Web Design and Content Management
    • Leads strategy, design, and updates content for RMHC-EasternWI.org, including House information, images, marketing copy, event information, and photographs for website while maintaining continuity of themes and design layouts
    • Responsible for functionality of page-navigation links, monitoring and increasing site traffic through SEO analytics
    • Coordinate with web developer and IT support to problem–solve deficiencies
  • Manage and maintain digital marketing tools, including but not limited to: WordPress, MailChimp, and MobileCause.
  • Serve as RMHC staff liaison, along with Director of Philanthropy, for the Development Committee, including assisting with any marketing and/or event initiatives
  • Manage periodic updates of House video and any other videography and photography project needs


  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 – 7 years of marketing and event experience
  • Excellent graphic design skills. Proven portfolio of representative work and a desire to keep abreast of current trends in design and technology advances
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Master Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Experience with copy editing
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to successfully manage a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media tools
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a flexible and team-oriented environment
  • Professional demeanor with ability to communicate with a diverse audience of staff, Board of Directors, and other organization stakeholders
  • Experience with MailChimp and WordPress a plus
