As patients progress through treatment at Rogers Behavioral Health, they are given opportunities to spend time with their loved ones off campus and our Ronald McDonald Family Room® has become “the place to be!” for these visits.
If you read our latest edition of HomeWord, you may remember the Kindy family!
“From the moment we walked into the Family Room we felt so welcome. We could connect, even in a public place, and feel comfortable to bond, visit and just be together.” – Jill Kindy
Wanting to pay it forward, the Kindys have generously sponsored toys and games for the Family Room since December of 2021, helping us fill our shelves with fun for all ages. Whether families have a full day or just a couple of hours, the Kindy family’s Toy and Game Sponsorship offers a wide variety of items for families to enjoy together and interact in a meaningful way.
We truly have something for everyone…
Some classics
“To see our daughters laugh and play together and just be sisters was priceless.”
A little friendly competition
“A favorite memory of mine was playing Battleship with my son.”
Word games
“We love this space! We had a wonderful experience and it offered us an escape from reality. A special memory was family game time. Our daughter loved Bananagrams!”
Building together
“Our visits in the Family Room allowed my husband and three children, ages 11, 11, and 7 to better support me in treatment. We enjoyed activities together including baking brownies, inventing a restaurant in the play area, painting, inventing foam shapes, weaving in the Creativity Room, playing a game, and making a meal we enjoyed together. Thank you for this space. You made it possible for us to make new positive memories doing everyday life activities together!”
Connecting
“Recently, we played a game called Hygge which included cards with 3 prompts/reflection questions. My daughter and I had fun learning about each other and sharing stories from our childhoods.”
Time to strategize
“The Family Room gave us a chance to do “normal” family activities which was very nice. It was a very relaxing and beautiful space for us to connect and we enjoyed playing board games together!”
Putting the pieces together
“Our large family, ages 11 to 54, all found ways to enjoy ourselves in this incredibly beautiful and peaceful space. We were able to connect with our 14-year-old daughter with games, puzzles, movies and snacks. Thank you for your kindness!”
Our volunteers and staff love to see families relaxing, having fun and enjoying quality time together, and we thank everyone who supports this important program!
