Have you ever had to stay in the same place all day long, without getting to move around or talk to someone new? If you never get to sit back and relax for a whole day, it may sound perfect! But what if you had to do that every day, over and over, without an end in sight? Many families and patients face long days at the hospital that leave them feeling stuck and far from relaxed.
Ronald McDonald House programs all over the country have been working hard to help families with these very long days. Whether a family lives near the hospital or is from far away and is staying at RMHC, they face the same struggle of trying to stay close to their child. So we asked ourselves- how can we help?
The solution we found is red, white and striped all over! Thanks to the generosity of our supporting partners at Kohl’s, this big, bright Happy Wheels Hospitality Cart is on a mission every Tuesday to bring cheer throughout Children’s Wisconsin (CW). The Happy Wheels cart will be delivering snacks, toys, books and other treats directly to families along the route, finally breaking up those long days. After just two turns down the halls of CW, the Happy Wheels volunteers have already brought smiles to nearly 175 new faces.
We are very grateful to our volunteers and our partners at Kohl’s and CW as we continue to find new ways of keeping families together!
