Our Loyal Supporters help us Keep Families Close

Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin is able to fulfill its mission because of the generous support we receive from so many partners in our community – individuals, corporations, schools, churches, organizations and foundations. Working together we can keep families close when they need it most. The story of Cascades is, at heart, a story about a family with deep human values, about proactive individuals guided by a forward-looking vision.

Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibers. The Company employs 11,000 employees, who work in more than 90 production units located in North America and Europe. With its management philosophy, half a century of experience in recycling, and continuous efforts in research and development as driving forces, Cascades continues to deliver the innovative products that customers have come to rely on.

RMHC became one of their customers in June 2015.  An employee at one of the Cascades production facilities in Eau Claire, WI reached out to the House after a family member stayed with us.  When the opportunity to donate a semi-truck full of paper products arose, he immediately thought of our House.  We were thrilled to accept this very generous donation of 30 pallets of toilet paper, paper towel and napkins.   Since 2015, we have consistently exceeded 2,500 family stays per year. One can only imagine how many paper product we go through annually!

Fast forward to December 2017.  We ran out of paper towel from the 2015 donation.  After a quick phone call to Cascades, another semi-truck full of paper towels was on its way to us from their Eau Claire production facility.  We could not do what we do without the support of a caring community near and far. We are incredibly grateful for their confidence in our mission to keep families together and promote the health and well-being of children.

Cranky Al’s is a longtime friend of  Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern WI, providing a little bit of love in the shape of a donut to the families who call our House home.  The team at Cranky Al’s isn’t cranky at all, they serve quality, hand-crafted foods made to order with a goal of bringing a little joy to each person’s day.

Their delicious 3 times a week delivery of donuts have certainly brought lots of joy to our families.  Just ask Joey, Al and Suzy about their love of the House and they will quickly share their desire to donate 1 million donuts!  They are well on their way-  Since 2013 Cranky Al’s has donated over 54,000 donuts to our Ronald McDonald House.  That equates to a lot of smiles and sprinkles!

The team at Cranky Al’s sponsors many worthwhile events in the community and we are proud to have them as our partner!

The mission of Milwaukee Area Technical College is to offer exceptional educational and training opportunities and services to the diverse metropolitan area by engaging with partners to advance the quality of life for their students and community.  The work that they have done at RMHC is proof that they are living out their mission.

The MATC Architectural Woodworking/Cabinetmaking class has been collaborating with RMHC since 2014.  In 2014, RMHC received a generous donation of furniture for our 70 guest rooms.  One of the furniture pieces was an armoire with shelf storage that the MATC students helped retrofit into an actual dresser with drawers.  In addition, they made custom wood twin headboards to match our existing queen headboards.  Not only did they create all of these pieces, they came on-site to install each and every piece into our guest rooms.

We recently asked MATC to help us create a solution to prevent items from getting stuck under guest beds.  Together we came up with the idea to make a custom wood bed skirt to attach to the metal bed frame.  The wood bed skirts were stained to match the existing furniture and look beautiful. Our problem has been solved…no more surprises are being found under the beds!

Under the leadership and direction of MATC instructor, Dan Stich, projects like these not only benefit RMHC, but they give his students hands on, real-life experience.  The relationship we have established is a win-win for both organizations.  The work that MATC does for RMHC helps us save money and the opportunities that we can provide them far surpasses the project dollars that are allocated to their program budgets.

We are incredibly grateful for the professionalism and superior workmanship of the MATC Architectural Woodworking/Cabinetmaking students.  Our relationship is community collaboration at its finest.
