I have been a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House® since August of 2022. I knew from the beginning that I would have a great experience at RMHC®, and would enjoy forming connections with other volunteers, staff and the guests staying at the House. The happiness I feel when I walk through the doors is why I keep doing what I do and enjoy what I do. Some things I do as a Teen Hospitality Volunteer are stock food in the kitchens, clean the kitchens and guest spaces, make beds, and make sure the guests are comfortable and have anything they may need. My absolute favorite thing to do, though, is taking kids and families to the Magic Room. Seeing their faces light up when the door opens makes me happy and brightens my day.
I am also a part of the Teen Ambassador Program. This program is made up of juniors and seniors from local area high schools. Through this program I have made many new friends, and sharing the mission within my school has helped to make a much bigger impact in my community. Running activities like Sunday Bingo and pumpkin decorating with the families have been a few of my favorite things I have done so far as part of this program. The one-on-one time with families is truly one of the best parts about being a Teen Ambassador. Being involved in this program is a great way to meet new people, and share the mission of RMHC with our own communities.
I have loved every minute of volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and also being a part of the Teen Ambassador Program. I am excited for what is to come and am proud of the great organization that I get to be a part of!
