Happy National Volunteer Appreciation Week! Here at the Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin (RMHC), we are fortunate to have a team of 550+ volunteers. While our volunteers have many titles, such as Hospitality Volunteer, Kitchen Keeper, Office Assistant, and Van Driver, just to name a few, they all work together to achieve the common goal of making sure our families’ needs are taken care of.
Whether they are managing our front office, maintaining common areas and kitchens, transporting families to and from the hospital in our van, performing a variety of housekeeping tasks, making up our guest rooms, or beautifying our Secret Garden, every task is done with our families in mind. Each volunteer at RMHC goes above and beyond by trying their best to comfort our guest families and make them feel at home in a time of uncertainty. While offering a kind word, a smile, or a box of tissues, our volunteers treat each guest family member as if they were their own.
Our volunteer team is comprised of mother-daughter and husband-wife duos, high school and college students, and many more who are spending their retirement serving others. Wherever they are coming from, for around three to four hours every other week, they come to the House and give us their most valuable asset-their time. We ask them to come into the House with one question on their minds: “How can I help the families today?” But because each of our volunteers is dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate, they always take it one step further, going above-and-beyond to think, “What more can I do to help the families today?”
Thank you to all of our volunteers for your hard work and dedication each time you enter the House. We are so grateful for the support you provide the House and our families.
