Pop Tab Patch Program

Little things can mean a lot…

Even the youngest daisy and cub scout troop members can make the world a better place. Saving pop tabs is easy! They’re compact, with a high concentration of recyclable aluminum.

Since 2000, recycling little aluminum tabs on the tops of soda cans has generated more than $375,000 for our Ronald McDonald House. Revenue raised from recycling these little bits of aluminum helps to keep families whose seriously ill children are undergoing treatment in the Milwaukee area close. In 2019, about 32% of our families were able to contribute the suggested $20 a night, but in reality, the cost is more than $100 per night. We are grateful for your support so no family is ever turned away for their inability to pay.

  1. Patches are distributed ONCE PER YEAR at Tab Toss Day. If your troop is unable to attend, patches will be mailed after this event.
  2. Troops outside of Wisconsin may receive patches for their collections. For more information please email: info@rmhc-easternwi.org.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Register your troops for pop tab collecting! To offset the cost of patches, we charge a $1.00 per scout registration fee. Please register on the form at the bottom of this page.
  2. You may choose to use our pop tab collection houses available courtesy of Menasha Corporation. Tab Houses can be picked up at the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee-small ones for .50 cents each and large ones for $3 each. You may also choose to create your own containers, posters and/or labels.

Alternatively, you may:

  • Plan to attend Tab Toss Day on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
  • Drop off your tabs at any Complete Recycling Services, Great Clips or First Federal Bank locations in the Greater Milwaukee Area, the Appleton Police Department, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department or Schreiber Foods in Green Bay.
  • Drop your tabs off at the Ronald McDonald House on Watertown Plank Road in Milwaukee, any day between 9:00am.-9:00pm.
  • Take the pop tabs to your local recycling center and have the check made out to Ronald McDonald House Charities and mail it to 8948 Watertown Plank Road, Milwaukee, WI 53226.
