Wow, what a year it has been! We are excited to end 2021 by sharing the holiday season with the families staying at our Ronald McDonald House® and providing the comforts of home when home is far away.
As we look back on the year, one of the things we are most proud is the continued commitment to our mission shown by our Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and community. Supporting all of our guest families would not have been possible without the generous support we received this year. While many great things happened in 2021, we want to take a moment to highlight some of our big moments from the year!
Tab Toss Day
In May, we celebrated Tab Toss Day. Friends of RMHC® Eastern Wisconsin come from all around the state each year to drop off the pop tabs they’ve collected on our behalf. This event brings everyone from Girl Scout troops to motorcyclists together to raise awareness for our mission. We want to give a special thank you to Winter Services and Complete Recycling Services for making this event possible.
Imagine Expansion Groundbreaking Ceremony
On June 16, we gathered for the groundbreaking of our next expansion. We are incredibly excited to add 14 long term guest rooms designed to meet the unique needs of guest families who stay 60 days or longer. The new addition will include a family kitchen, a bright playroom for active play, a welcoming community room for programming and additional storage for volunteers and staff. We eagerly await the opening of our new space to welcome more families in the summer of 2022!
Grand Opening of Our First Ronald McDonald Family Room®
On August 11, a red ribbon was cut to signify the opening of the Ladish Co. Foundation Center, home of our first Family Room! Located on the Oconomowoc campus of Rogers Behavioral Health, the Family Room provides family members and other caregivers a place where they can relax, prepare a meal, have a snack, or rest while preparing for the emotional and mental demands of having a child in the treatment. We are proud to be one of the first within the RMHC Global Charity System to partner with a behavioral health on this venture.
Color the Night Gala
We entered the fall by hosting our “Color the Night” Gala at Saint Kate-The Arts Hotel on September 18. The night was a huge success thanks to everyone who attended, participated in the auction and donated. Thanks to the collective support, we were able to raise over $415,000, making it the highest netting Gala in our House’s history!
